Which products does DonnyFL offer?

In a very short time, the American DonnyFL (FL stands for Florida and yes, the founder’s name is Donny) has become one of the leading manufacturers in air rifle moderators. That’s because of a combination of factors, of which the fanaticism of the founder and the superior quality of the moderators are the main two. More about that in a minute, first we’ll tell you which products are being made by DonnyFL.

Classic moderators

First of all, we have to mention the ‘standard’ moderators in multiple sizes. What stands out is the fact that the DonnyFL moderators can be dismantled completely. No press fits or glued parts, the moderators feature a screw-on cover on both sides, making it easy to retract the internals. This makes it easy to replace, for instance, dampening materials.
End caps

The fact that the moderators can be dismantled, has another important function: they can be customised. The cover on the barrel side is the one with the thread that’ll fit the barrel of the air rifle. DonnyFL calls this the end-cap and for all moderators in the assortment, end-caps are available with different threads to make them suitable for virtually every air rifle. There are also end-caps with a QR (Quick Release) connection that’ll fit on an optional QD adapter on the barrel thread of your air rifle. With this, it only takes a short twist to mount the moderator and remove it again. Quite convenient when your rifle bag or rifle case isn’t long enough or if you’re not always using a moderator.
Moderator adapters

Now we’re talking adapters; DonnyFL has a massive number of adapters for popular air rifles. With these, air rifles with a shroud can be retrofitted with an external thread for fitting a moderator. These adapters are model specific and it’s a very good example explaining why DonnyFL has become so popular. When new air rifles hit the market, it’s only a question of time before DonnyFL makes an adapter for it. As soon as people start asking for one, a solution is developed.
Modulair moderators

Besides the classic moderators that are made up by a cylinder fitted with a perforated tube that’s wrapped in dampening felt, DonnyFL also makes modular moderators. These moderators feature multiple specially designed chambers and you can add chambers or take some off. The more chambers, the quieter your air rifle will be, but as with most things, there’s a bit more to it than that. For precision shooters, it’s important to be able to adjust the length of the moderator. The length can have influence on the accuracy. Sometimes, an air rifle will perform better with a moderator, while others will see a slight spreading of groups.

We can write a book about air turbulence and harmonic barrel movement, but as there are no exact formulas for it, we’ll go straight to the conclusion: by experimenting with the length (and weight) of the moderator, you can reach an optimum accuracy of your air rifle. Muzzle brakes

DonnyFL supplies virtually everything in front of the barrel and muzzle brakes definitely belong to that category. A muzzle brake isn’t just an add-on with some holes in it, the design features several chambers with close fitting air strippers that are calibre specific. All to minimise the turbulence around the pellet or slug as soon as it leaves the barrel and the air gets free reign. And to redirect the air in such a way that muzzle rise is minimised too.

Is DonnyFL a good brand?

DonnyFL has made fame for being amongst the top producers of air rifle moderators. Its quality is twofold: firstly, the products are of outstanding quality and secondly, the brand is established out of enthusiasm for air rifle sport shooting. As a result, the moderators aren’t just designed to dampen sound, but a lot of thought also went into the design regarding the effect on accuracy.

The moderators and accessories such as end-caps and adapters are all made from a good grade of aluminium that’s machined with a CNC machine. So everything is produced computer controlled, making for very small tolerances, a perfect finish and great consistency in the products. This means the DonnyFL products are very precise in size.
