This Omni muzzle brake by Bergara with M14x1 thread reduces recoil, by re-directing the combustion gasses that escape the barrel after a shot, which compensates for the backward movement that your rifle makes during a shot, and can reduce recoil for up to 30%.

The recoil reduction does however cause the muzzle sound to be more audible, simply because that gasses – and soundwaves – are directed backwards, instead of to the target. This is why it’s important to be extra wary for sufficient protection of your hearing.
